Swim Safe

In Te Ngahere a lady named Tracy came to our school to teach us about water safety. She told us the five rules to keep safe on the ocean, Rule one always wear a life jacket when your on boat. Rule two tell someone where you're going and what time you will be back so they know that you're safe. Rule three check the weather so you know the sea is safe. Rule four put your safety first that means if someone is in trouble don't just and save them so you don't get heart. The last rule is have a emergency beacon radio and a play a flare. What I learnt from Tracy was your life is worth everything.

Steam challenge

In Te Ngahere we did a Steam challenge. We were learning to make a free standing object out of two sheets of newspaper and tape that was 30 cm. It was a challenge to build the tallest newspaper tower. It was really frustrating to make the tower stand. I paired up in a group of three .Their names were Dayton and MIkaire. The tower didn't stand properly because the base was scrunched so Dayton tried to put his hand through the base so it could stand straight; we finally made it stand. The highest for our tower was 1m. We nearly won but we came 3rd. The people who came first were Zhynaliyah and Emma .Second place was Franky, Imogen and Mark. We lost but we still had fun.

Quality blog post

Recently in Te Ngahere we have been learning to writing a Quality Blog Posts. I learned what a quality blog post is. The important things in a post are a Title, Introduction, DLO, Reflection, and Sources. Your title is one of the most important parts of your blog post because it needs to be catchy and make the reader want to read your blog. Learning how to write a quality blog post was helpful because now I know what I should put in my blogs to make them better.  How do you bloggers think that I can improve my blogging?

Math

In Te Ngahere we have been doing maths. I am learning to do addition with carrying. If we get stuck or we need help we could either ask the teacher for help or we can ask our maths group. It was hard to use these techniques; it was really hard for ages. Then it got easier. From now I will be using these strategies for I need to do maths. My next challenge is to be doing adding three or four addends.

Beach clean

September 13th we went to Paihia beach to pick up rubbish. I learnt that people aren't thinking to put
their rubbish in the rubbish bin. That's by Alfresco's and we worked our way down to the old kayak shed.
We got into groups of five my group and I got into a group of four. We each got a glove and a bag to put
the rubbish in. There was lots of rubbish like cigarette butts, bottle tops, ropes, smashed bottles and
plastic. The rubbish was mostly found in between the rocks and by the trees.

Oral Hygiene

In Te Ngahere two ladies named Ulrike and Chantelle came to teach us how to keep our teeth healthy.
I learnt that whenever you don’t brush your teeth at night you have no saliva in your mouth and I found
out why you always have saliva in your mouth is because you normally see food during the day so that is
how you have saliva in your mouth. Ulrike had a type of toothpaste that made your teeth go blue and
then once you rinse your mouth with water it would show different colors like baby blue, purple and
pink. This indicates how much plaque is on your teeth and how old it is. I learnt heaps about Oral
Hygiene.
